Natural Ways to Remedy Tailor’s Bunions
Unfortunately, there is no actual cure for a tailor’s bunion besides surgery. Notably though, there are herbs which have natural anti-inflammatory properties to them. It is important to contact your podiatrist before trying them.
- Chamomile. This herb is a natural anti-inflammatory. Simply drink chamomile, up to four times per day. Save the tea bag and apply it right to the bunion or tailor’s bunion.
- Hot Peppers. Not only are hot peppers great for speeding up your metabolism and immune system, they naturally decrease swelling and discomfort. An ointment containing capsaicin, which is the spicy component in chili peppers, works to block pain receptors.
- Calendula. Calendula is another natural anti-inflammatory alternative. Calendula can be purchased as a salve in health food stores. Massage the salve into the bunion 2-3 times per day.
Additional measures to be aware of when attempting to remedy your tailor’s bunions:
- Shoes. Shoes with a large toe box are an essential part of preventing further growth of the bunion.
- union pads. Special pads will combat friction associated with the size of a bunion rubbing on the inside of the shoe.
- Stretching. Exercise and stretch the toes to help strengthen the muscles and ligaments surrounding the tailor’s bunion.
